I’ve never been a fan of Christmas coming to an end! In many ways I wish we really could just “Treat Everyday Like Christmas” – Buddy the Elf! You can be like Buddy and reduce those Post-Christmas Blues.

Anytime something that you have been excited for finally comes to and end it can be tough to deal with. 😔 I have found it to definitely be the case with the Holidays. We look forward to them for months. Then they are gone in what feels like a blink of an eye. Many times leaving us with some emotions that can be tough to navigate. On top of that if you don’t live somewhere Sunny the Winter Blues themselves could already be taking there toll on you.

Learn to beat Post-Christmas Blues

It’s not easy but it can be done. To be completely honest as much as I love Christmas, I love what the week between Christmas and the New Year Brings possibly a bit more. For our family the past 8 years we have used this slower time to relax and enjoy each others company a bit more. We have also learned to use this time as a time of reflection and preparation for the upcoming year. Best advice that I ever got was just start trying a few things and see what works best for you.

Here are some ideas!Â đŸ€©

Find a New Book

Keep a running list in your calendar of books that you would like to read in the New Year. Take some time over the next week or so and think, Is there something new that I want to learn or a Big Goal that I want to achieve next year. Books are always a great place to start learning that new skill or finding ways to make that goal happen!

Plan Something Fun

Start Planning a Vacation or just something fun! This can be either for yourself or for your family, and it will give you something to look forward to.

Set Goals for the New Year

This one thing could change your entire life! I know it has for our family. We started making Vision Boards about 3 years ago and looking back at them has been a fun yearly activity for our family. You can even get the kids involved with this one and have them make boards of there own.

Celebrate Looking back on the Past Year

This is also a great time to look back on all that you have to be grateful for this year. Even if you think you have had a crappy year use this time to learn and grow from some of the things that didn’t go quite the way you wanted them to.

Get Back into a Routine

Success can be found in the small things that we do everyday! This is the perfect time to take a good look at your routines and make some small adjustments if you need to. Need some help check out this post.

Exercise

Please don’t make some crazy New Years resolution here! Start small and simple! Maybe you will commit to 10 minutes of stretching each morning. Or if you live somewhere that the weather isn’t so bad a 15-20 minute walk a few days a week.

Start a Journal

Writing can help you in so many ways. It can help you release some pent-up emotions that you may be dealing with. Or you could start a Gratitude journal. I have found that even one sentence a day can make me feel so much better.

Living the Holidays Year Round

It may be hard to live out the holidays 100% year round there are still many of the things we love that we can do year round. Think if you love baking then start baking more though-out the year. Do you love cozy movie nights with the family, then make it a goal to have at least one of those each month in the new year! Break up that mandate routine and have some fun! God didn’t create you to be happy only one time a year.

I’d love to hear what you are doing to beat the post-Christmas and Winter Blues?
